Claude Code vs Codex: What's the Difference?

A side-by-side look at OpenAI and Anthropic's AI coding agents

Codex and Claude Code are two of the most popular AI coding agents right now. They both let you use natural language to build websites, apps, and pretty much anything else you can imagine. But if you’re just getting started, it can be hard to know which one to pick or whether it even matters.

In this video, I break down the key differences between these two tools, how they each handle things like model selection and reasoning levels, and the different ways you can access them. I also share why I like working with Codex and Claude Code inside Cursor on the free plan instead of VS Code, and how you can actually use multiple AI coding tools on the same project depending on what you need.

If you’re trying to figure out where to start with agentic coding, this will help you understand how these tools compare and how to think about using them together.
